Hi everyone,
I have an interview with Citation in the coming days for a Security Analyst position.
I was wondering if anyone here works at Citation or knows someone who has interviewed or worked there in a Security Analyst role. I’d really appreciate any insights into the interview process, the types of questions they ask, or any advice that could help me prepare.
Thank you in advanceI really appreciate any help!

CHtGpt in 10 seconds and now ask preform mock interview with me. You’ll be all prepared!

Preparing in just a few days means focusing on high-impact areas—the fundamentals, how you think, and how you communicate. For a Security Analyst role (likely SOC / Cybersecurity Analyst) at Citations or similar companies, here’s a sharp, practical plan you can follow:

🔑 1. Nail the Core Security Fundamentals

Make sure you can clearly explain (not just recognize) these:

* CIA Triad (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability)
* Common threats: phishing, malware, ransomware, insider threats
* Basic networking:
* TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS
* What a firewall does
* Authentication concepts:
* MFA, OAuth, SSO
* Security tools basics:
* SIEM (e.g., Splunk)
* EDR/XDR
* IDS/IPS

👉 Be ready for questions like:

* “What happens when you click a phishing link?”
* “How would you investigate a suspicious login?”

🧠 2. Practice Thinking Like an Analyst

They care more about your approach than memorization.

Use a simple framework:

1. Identify the issue
2. Gather evidence
3. Analyze patterns
4. Escalate or respond

👉 Example:

“If I saw multiple failed logins followed by a success from a foreign IP, I’d check user behavior history, validate location, and escalate if it’s abnormal.”

💻 3. Review Real-World Scenarios

Spend a few hours reviewing:

* Basic incident response steps
* Sample security alerts/logs
* Simple threat scenarios

Free resources:

* Try labs from platforms like:
* TryHackMe
* Hack The Box

Even 1–2 beginner labs helps you speak with confidence.

🗣️ 4. Prepare Your Story (This Matters A LOT)

As a student, they don’t expect deep experience—but they expect:

* Curiosity
* Initiative
* Problem-solving mindset

Have 2–3 short stories ready:

* A time you solved a technical problem
* A time you learned something quickly
* A time you worked under pressure

Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result).

🧩 5. Expect These Common Questions

Practice answers out loud:

* “Why cybersecurity?”
* “What is a SIEM?”
* “How do you stay updated on threats?”
* “Explain a recent cyberattack you’ve heard about”
* “What would you do if you saw suspicious activity?”

🧾 6. Research the Company (Quick but Smart)

Look up:

* What Citations does (compliance, SaaS, etc.)
* Their customers/industry
* Any recent news

Then tailor:

“I’m interested in how your platform helps businesses stay compliant and secure…”

⚡ 7. Day-Before Checklist

* Review notes (don’t cram new topics)
* Practice 5–6 answers out loud
* Prepare 2–3 questions to ask them:
* “What does success look like in the first 90 days?”
* “What tools does your SOC use daily?”
* Get good sleep

🎯 Final Tip

They’re not hiring an expert—they’re hiring potential.

If you:

* Think logically
* Communicate clearly
* Show genuine interest

👉 You’ll stand out.

Thank you so much!

Switching from commission to salary!

I’m considering a less sales-oriented role that doesn’t pay commission. The new role will have a higher base but lower overall earning potential.

What % haircut should be expected? As an example, if I make 100k (base + commission) today, would it be realistic to ask for 90k (10% cut) + equity to make up the difference?

Solve a debate for me I think my husband is way underpaid. He has 5 years of experience in all kinds of dev but has specialized in cloud computing. He has been working for the same company since he graduated. He has worked his way up to lead developer and makes $110k. What would you think a remote employee should be making with 5 years of experience.

What are your thoughts on pay discrepancies based on family structure? Ex. Two people do the same job but one is paid more or given a larger bonus “because they have kids and you live alone” or “because their family is struggling”. Is that an ethical factor if both employees do the same job at the same pace, quality, etc?

Curious to hear how Account Exec comp is being broken down for those in Canada that do Solution Sales. After many years in recruitment I’m taking on solutions. Loving it! Just don’t know what industry comp looks like and would love to hear how others in Canada are remunerated.

How do RSUs/equity work? I received an offer that includes $20k equity. I'm not sure if this is good, or low, as I don't really know how the payout is calculated or given. Can anyone advise?

Is it true that front end developers get paid less than backend/full stack developers?

I’m a full stack developer who enjoys front end work, but I’m not sure if I should be looking/applying to front end specific positions.

I am expecting an offer from Master Card for Senior Software Engineer position in O Fallon MO. Please let me know what kind of base salary I can expect with 11 yrs experience . I don’t wanna undersell but also trying to avoid being aggressive but quote a decent number which will be achievable. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Is 125k $ base a fair value for or I can pitch higher? They have a 15 to 20 % bonus on top of base pay and a 10% match on 401k which the recruiter keep highlighting.
