Hi everyone! I work in Business Development for a software company and recently got an unconditional offer for a Masters in Computer Science and Data at a top research uni. There’s a route to funding if I win it, and I only applied with that in mind. My company founder suggested only doing a master’s if I’m passionate, adding we can explore me becoming a Business Analyst without it. I’m torn—would having the qualification for life outweigh focusing on career progression now? Any advice?

Plan is to purchase some time after 2 years or so. Primarily to save up for a larger down payment.

Here’s my plan of attack:
- $30K saved right now ($20K in IBonds and $10K cash)
- $90K saved by July 2023
-$130K saved by 2023 and target a $800K home

I started full time at an agency mid pandemic so have never once worked in the office. I find myself working 50+ hour weeks even from home. Everyone who says "I can't wait to be back at the office" - are they really serious? To tack on commute time and public transit anxiety, wake up at the crack of dawn. Question to immigrants with parents overseas. Anyone has experience getting their parents approved for tourist visa while immigration petition for parent is pending (I am US citizen, moms case is slowly moving and I desperately need her come visit). Tech company lay offs….are they soon to be inevitable?!

There is lots of companies really taking a hit in the tech space. Is this something that people are nervous about? Many seem to still be having a hiring push but with the button falling (IMO this is still just start we have a long way to go to bottom out) will that halt and layoffs ensue? And if so, which depts do you think will get hit the hardest?
