Hi fellow PMs. I use job alerts to keep an eye on new opportunities. I thought all job boards sent the same jobs, so I did an experiment:
- Signed up for “Senior Product Manager”, “Seattle” job alerts from Linkedin, Indeed, Glassdoor, and Google for Jobs
- Built a tool (JobBox.cc) to parse jobs from the emails for a week
- Made a visualisation
Of 294 new jobs, only 9 overlapped between any job boards!
With only one job alert, I would have missed out on 100+ new jobs.
Other useful insights?

Wow! That was so helpful to me. I always thought they have the same jobs across all boards. I will pay more attention to each platform now
Thanks a lot.
I thought the same at first but I noticed some differences. That’s why I built JobBox (https://www.jobbox.cc)). Now I subscribe to a bunch of alerts and it’s all organized for me. It’s free, just trying to get some feedback. Try it out!
Great job putting your PM skills to work!
