They are forcing us to pick any upcoming Saturday's to return the assets, that to we need to report the office by 10 am to return the system. OP, it’s hard to find the right words because my life is so different from yours (I’m straight, married, pregnant, and happy about all of it), but I just wanted to share a few things I heard recently.
Most importantly you need to know that are wonderfully and fearfully made and God loves you.
I recently listened to this episode of Pints with Aquinas (I am a huge fan of this podcast in general) on SSA and was blown away by this lady’s story. Being SSA is certainly hard but everyone has challenges … I am called to live chastely within my marriage, be open to life, etc. She was also in a few long term SSA relationships. I also listened to an episode of Relatable with Rosario Butterfield. This lady was a gender studies professor and in a long term SSA and left all of that to revert to Catholicism and follow God.
One thing Kim said in the pints with Aquinas episode that really struck me was that giving her SSA over to the Lord is a sweet sacrifice. Yes, it’s hard. But if it wasn’t hard, it wouldn’t be a sacrifice.
Finally, you used the word “wrestle” in your post and that is beautiful. God knows that the Christian life is really hard and He wants us - invites us - to wrestle with Him over it.
I’ll end where I started - God loves you. Following Him is hard but so good. I will be praying for you!

Hey man. Also a SSA catholic. I don’t really like to follow the church teachings on it cause I feel like they are too restrictive. Best thing in my opinion is to maintain your relationship with God and know he loves you the way you are.
The Church’s teachings and related rules are based on the Bible, deep rooted theology, and tradition. As Catholics, unlike a lot of Protestants, we can’t just pick and choose what teachings we adhere to or not based on whether it aligns with our personal life styles and what we want to accept. Some are more difficult to accept and follow of course, but we are called to live in accordance even when our personal crosses to bear seem to difficult. I don’t “like” to follow a lot of the teachings, because not following would make my earthly life in the flesh
so much easier, but the spirit and soul are strengthened when we do challenge ourselves to follow the teachings.
All the prayers.
OP - thank you for reaching out. I can not personally give you any guidance, but will give you my prayers. You may want to reach out to St Cecilia church in Boston. There is a gay ministry there, and Father Unni is incredible. I am sure if you reach out, someone there will be glad to talk. Good luck to you, and thank you for being Catholic.
I'm not SSA but this guy is Orthodox after being SSA for many years.
