One word— entirely
I see working for/with non believers as an opportunity to grow the kingdom. Be salt to those people, reflect Jesus to them.
Now, let me be clear, I’m a hypocrite and don’t live up to my calling at all times. But I do think it’s biblical
Oh man, I could talk on this all day! First, we’re called to be faithful in that and that means being good at what we do and treating it as God’s work. How do honor Him, His creation, and the work in my vocation? Could go on and on, but highly recommend Tim Keller’s “every good endeavor” and reading about the Gotham program. Churches offer similar programs all over the US

More practically - be diligent and intentional about your work (don’t be lazy), take special care to not become prideful about your work, don’t equate your identity with work (which is hard sometimes!), be intentional about the friendships you form at work, you were given special skills so work to cultivate that, remember that the world tells you to “follow your heart” but that is not what God commanded of us, don’t gossip or lie at work, redefine success in the workplace from a Biblical point of view (don’t just “climb the corporate ladder” bc that’s what the world views as successful or bc of your own pride or bc you’re selfishly looking for more money); while it may be tough to preach the Gospel in the traditional sense at the workplace, you can however tell a coworker what you did over the weekend (you attendee the church you belong to) or if they’re going through a tough time say you’ll pray for them, etc.

We work to bring Glory to God. It’s in our work, conversations and interactions with people that they experience our witness. Faith should be the driving factor in how we perform and work with people. This lets people experience the love of Christ outside of church!
The scripture says to do every task as if you're doing it for God, so I agree with D1 - it should impact how you show up at work entirely. You may the only exposure to God some people at your company will ever see, and as Christians we are commanded to be a light in this dark world. One of the best examples of this in the Bible is Joseph - he embodied Christian principles in the worst situations (i.e. how he behaved at Potifer's house and when he was imprisoned). I often think of that, especially on the more difficult days at the office.
As in how you live your life - entirely.
However I think I see a lot of people take that to mean that you shouldn’t focus on your work too much. I think on the contrary, it means we must work hard and strive to be the best we can be, and work on living the virtues, which still will be attractive even to secular colleagues.
I constantly think about the parable of the talents and push myself to think about whether I am doing the best with what God gave me.
Excellent topic and Excellent answers. Part of my faith is being a good steward to what I’ve been given. And Like Joesph- who worked several “secular” jobs but it was building him to a place where it would end benefiting God’s people. I’d like to think that is a path we are all on.
Yes the Bible is full of people who did “secular” work to serve God’s purpose
