P&G has a better brand but it all depends on the type of work you want to be doing - very different jobs (internal strategy versus sales).
That is true. Walmart is basically what I have been doing for a few years while P&G is like getting me out of my comfort zone a bit and I am actually kinda looking forward to that. And I think I am leaning towards P&G at this point. Hopefully it would be a good one!
Hands down P&G. Way too many reasons to list down. But the biggest one is that I have anecdotal evidence for life in both and P&G takes the cake.
I don’t know those companies but just wanted to wish you luck. Congratulations on getting the offers.
Thank you!
Anecdotally, I’ve heard good things about P&G from a training perspective and the ability to own and run a products. I’ve heard mixed reviews on the culture.
Re: Walmart I’d be curious if you’re just applying a Canada lens to a broader corporate strategy or what kind of work is done? Just make sure you understand the type of work…. Like are you just implementing cost levers? Is it a kind of project management style work?
That’s good to know for sure! I think for Walmart it would mostly be enterprise strategy work in Canada (e.g. growth strat for the next 5 years kinda stuff) and perhaps a bit of pmo which is okay for me. But I have also heard that the team at Walmart is really small and that’s always tricky. But I guess I will just make a choice based on my priorities. Thanks though!
Rising Star
Definitely P&G for culture! Walmart is stingy and has a strong cost cutting culture. P&G is generous to employees and invests in learning and development
Now I think about it, Walmart did try to lowball me with their offer in the beginning.
Those seem like different roles. Strategy at Walmart should be more aligned with your background. Account executive will be more focused on relationship management and will most likely have sales target as well. Depends on what you would enjoy more.
Agree! Looking forward to trying something new actually!
Go for Walmart. It’s a strat role. P&g is sales if you don’t meet your targets or new to the role you will be canned.
Plus I like to know how it’s like to work at Walmart plus the discounts you would get ;)
It’s a 10% discount on regular priced merch :)
So, what did you decide and how do you like it? :)
Yes update us OP!
Is the AE more of a sales role or is it strategy work?
I think a mix of both in a sense that you are working closely with the customers advising them on the inventory level, pricing strategy and promotions and stuff.
Pro
P&G obviously. Branding leaders. Walmart is over soon. Can't compete with Amazon.
What level of account exec at P&G? They hire fresh undergrads as “account executives” also just FYI.
Yeah I know. But I am also open to starting something new so I don’t really mind that much at this point.

First of all, congrats on your offers.
I would recommend P&G. I too had an offer from Walmart last year and in the networking / research stage, I didn’t get good feedback on their culture. They’re known to cut head count constantly and there’s high turnover.
Walmart is tough negotiator because it’s part of their culture to negotiate (very merchant led org always trying to get the best costs!)
P&G gives you fantastic exit opps.
What kind of exit opps?
I love Walmart been there for 10 months and glad that I didn't take Garmin offer.
No advice but wondering how many YOE do you have?
2 YOE
Hi, did you join Walmart or P&G?
