Hi guys I’m just curious if your employees told you that you get paid based on your availability… I used to work at giant eagle and that’s what I was told that they pay you based on availability… and did you have restricted and unrestricted hours if you had children who was in school?

I don’t know that I completely understand what that is. From what I am looking up it is like being paid for on-call, I have not seen that in a retail or grocery location before. Depending on the state, there are restrictions on students, so I assume that would factor in too.

No, I haven't run into that. I've dealt with situations where hours could fluctuate, but people just had to be available when they were scheduled. If there were hours when they absolutely couldn't work, that would be accounted for. But that circumstance didn't reduce their pay for the hours they could work.

What do you mean based on your availability? So lets say you are available form 8 Am to 7 PM every single day, you just get paid for those hours even if you aren't working? I have never been in or heard of a situation like that honestly.

I interviewed for an employed role and knocked my business plan pitch out the park, but could tell I disappointed them with my technical. By my own admission I’m lacking in this area as only have 1.5 years experience with a poor manager who only had me focus on biz dev.

They asked me what my salary expectations are but had already hinted my experience would knock me down a pay grade.

As it was 4 of them and 1 of me I said I would email them. How do I play this without lowballing myself?

529 Plan VERSUS Prepaid

We live in Florida and currently have a Freshman in High School and a 16 month old. We hear from our friends and family with college bound children "I wish we would have done Florida PrePaid." Does anyone have recommendations on which plan to go with for each child? I once did the pros and cons on a whiteboard and it seemed like 529 was better.
