Hi, I recently got a job offer from Alo Yoga, but it seems sketchy. They found me through my portfolio, they want me to sign my offer letter before I meet anyone from the design department. Just curious if this is standard for them.

Thanks!

I've never heard of them, but I probably wouldn't do that. That sounds pretty suspicious and I'm wary of signing anything legal without ample information. I would definitely do a lot of research into the company before you give them any of your information!

I read it as they have been interviewed, just not by the design department. Of course common sense dictates that they don’t sign anything without speaking to anyone or verifying that they’re speaking to someone from Alo. I’m not saying don’t be wary, I’m just saying Alo isn’t a random company.

I wish someone from Alo could chime in here, but I'm assuming you've had interviews with the company already, right? You just haven't met the design team in particular? I'd definitely be cautious since you technically didn't apply and they contacted you (that's the fishy part), but I feel like we need a bit more detail.

I got the same from what I thought was a legitimate company. I was skeptical during the interview and was pretty sure the questions were AI. The answers to my questions were copied and pasted from the company website, you could tell. They offered me the job the next day without a second interview or meeting with the person who would be my "supervisor." They sent me W2 papers to fill out to accept the position. I looked up the "interviewer" on LinkedIn and it looked like she didn't do that job anymore. I reported it to that company but did not respond back. You can also look up the email domain at "whois" and it showed me the domain was created like 5 months ago. Company was in business a long time. SCAM! They also "found" my resume and portfolio and were "impressed with my design skills" Be careful out there. Scammers are everywhere!

Hi everyone. I have a final round pm interview coming up. I'm supposed to make a presentation and present it based on a scenario they gave me. Does anyone have any good advice on how to make sure I do well on this presentation? Could be basic from advice on the slides to how I should present it. The scenario is a product strategy task and I need to showcase what I would do in this scenario.

Hey there Fishbowl community,

I just had an L7 sdm interview with Google. Seemed to go very well except one of two system design interviews. The one went great and one went ok until they asked me to estimate the cpu/ram/server needed to handle the workload. I could give a great answer. We shall see.

I started a new job just 7 weeks ago, but an opportunity for a dream job just suddenly and unexpectedly fell into my lap! It’s a lot more money, more aligned with my career goals, and will have better work life balance. I’d be an idiot to not take this great new opportunity! That being said… I’m going to feel bad leaving this new job so soon. I’m sure they’ll be disappointed and maybe even angry… is there any way to NOT burn bridges on my way out of this current job?

Thoughts?

Anyone know any decent web developers that can quote for a project?

I had technical and behavioral interview today at Deloitte Canada for visual analytics and information design position.
In technical round there was a case study to create visual data sheet and present it to technical round.

It went good they asked couple of questions and showed that at some point it lacks of continuity and rest thing is good. I have been told we will discuss and send details to HR and you will get update within few days. What are the chances that they can hire me ?

Hi all
I started out as a graphic designer. Worked for about 4yrs in different roles. Then i started a digital design role for 2 yrs and then made my transition into ux. i have been in a ux role for 5 years. But i want to steer my career towards something more creative. Like in 5-10 years I wouldn’t want to be a specialist or a ux director. I d like to be an art director or creative director. I love branding & marketing but also product. Would love something that allows me to do both?

What are actionable items one should strive for when trying to grow as a designer after landing their first role? I hear a lot about ways to grow to land the first job but very little about how to improve after you know the basics.
