Hi, is it considered a red flag if i start looking for new opportunities within a month of joining a new role? I absolutely do not fit with the culture.

For your current employer, that action is red flag, fireworks, sirens, bells and whistles. For your potential employers, it will probably give them cause to pause but if you can bag an interview you can probably smooth it over. Try something like, "From a distance the grass seemed greener, but when I got there I saw that it was all weeds."

You can always instead say: “My current employer misrepresented the position.” Assuming you have a long work history at other places of employment, that shouldn’t raise any red flags.

It depends on your work history. If you have a history of long tenure in other jobs, I don’t think this would be a red flag.

Thanks for replying. I was at my previous role for 3 years and 9 months. I would consider that fairly long?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, but I would give it an honest 60-90 days to adjust unless it’s just absolutely toxic.

IMO, not necessarily. You could be doing great work wise but not feeling the culture or vibe.

I don’t think it’s a red flag at all. We can go into new jobs with the best intentions and then find out it isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. The best advice I’ve received as it relates to work is that nobody will care about your career more than you. If you know this isn’t for you, then move on. I’ve been able to explain away a short stint at a job with interviewers and it has never been looked at as a “blemish.” Of course I had metrics of what I accomplished in that short time and valid concerns I raised about my experience at said company without giving too much information away.

Curious as to What the culture is like?

What are your client follow-up/communication policies or practices? I’m hearing more and more that clients don’t like the long periods of time with little to no contact. From my perspective, since I bill for my time, unless I have an update or need something, I don’t initiate a call. Also, clients hold on to important info and don’t initiate a call cause they’re waiting for me to communicate with them.

Recently divorced. Never really done any buying of anything non-apparel without my ex-husband's "help." Now I need to find someone to help me through the process so I need to get a realtor. I'm terrified these people will rip me off or try to screw me because I'm new to this. What should I ask a realtor to really vet them well before hiring? How do I know they're legit? Should I ask for referrals/reviews?
