Yeaaaa this is wishful thinking haha Kamala of all ppl is not turning Texas blue
Since all the electoral college votes in Texas at least are red, if you’re a leftist I’d recommend voting for Green Party.
If they get just 5% of the nationwide popular vote then they’ll be an official minor third party and will be receive federal election funds $10m to $15m . And they will automatically be on every state ballot too so they won’t have to waste time or funds just trying to get on the ballots
I feel that as of late the three-party system doesn’t help. I would be more concerned about the ramifications in other states
We shouldn’t want Texas to flip blue. Hate to say it, but not every dem policy is automatically good just because a democrat said it. (And no, not every Republican policy is good/bad because they said it). It’s good for national stability that there is more than one voice in the ring. There’s plenty of California and New York for those who want it, and there’s Texas for those who prefer red. We’ve got enough to sort out without sticking our nose in someone else’s yard. I say let the experiment continue.
Not at all. Expand your worldview to allow for people who think differently than you. 1/3 of California is Republican, and they are living under entrenched state policies they don’t like. And that’s okay. If they hate it enough, they can immigrate to a state that better aligns (i.e., Texas). Despite whatever party is in power nationally, political minorities have paths to unite and try their system. It is good that not all 50 states are tilted to one side of the table.
The latter.
Maybe a moderate might have more of a chance, but most of Texas distrusts Kamala more than any politician I’ve seen.
Pro
Race for senate may be tight, but Texas is still red.
Definitely still RED
As a liberal living in Texas, this is wishful thinking. Better odds of FL flipping.
People keep saying it's wishful thinking, but it's not. It could legitimately happen. The problem is Texas puts out so much propaganda that Texas is solidly red that everyone else thinks it's pointless to vote (as evidenced by everyone above). For example, Trump won Texas by only 630,000 votes in 2020, but ~5.6 million registered voters didn't vote. Could Texas go blue if the other 5.6 million show up? It's possible. If you want it to turn blue, go vote and get your family and friends to as well.
I just moved to Austin, bud. I'm from "red" Texas
God lets hope not! Kamala would be a disaster!
100% there’s no good option. I really wish RFK Jr. would’ve stayed in. I’d much rather have him or Jill Stein for president than the two psychopaths we currently have on the red and blue ticket. Although I will say that if Tim waltz was leading the Dem ticket I would be much more inclined to vote blue in this election
I’m sure it’ll happen. Just ask Beto…
Beto was as radical as the come, and he still got within 215,000 votes. Allred isn't making the same mistakes and has a good shot at winning
Getting Ted Cruz out of office is more likely
Rising Star
C1...its why we all vote. Calling him a name is not a policy position. But you vote on what's important to you. Me, I think a tight Senate of Republican majority will be important the next 4 years. For better or worse, the GOP has rarely voted in lock step, unlike the Democrats who often vote in odds with their constituents unless they get permission for some cover needed for election.
Rising Star
Hate to say it but only because he is ex NFL, looks more likable than Cruz and outside money is pouring into Texas. Not because his policy positions are more in line with Texas voters.
Man, could you possibly imagine how crazy it would be if Texas actually flipped? The news stations would lose their minds and I can see the conspiracy theories that would take over the internet. However, I feel like I have heard Texas will flip at every election
I want to keep low taxes! Austin City Council just added an 8% increase when it’s already sky high. Welcoming California to Central Texas, but the rest still red.
Unfortunately as of right now I do think that it is wishful thinking especially given how Texans love their guns and the left wants stricter gun control lol. However I do think we are going to see a shift in the coming months and it is going to be really interesting to see.
