Home owner question. I just bought a house and painted the living room. I got some drops of paint on the hard wood floor and didn’t get them off and they dried. I used a kitchen sponge to scrub the...

How big is the impacted area and is it in a high traffic spot and can you share a photo? It’s very possible you scrubbed off the varnish. Once the wood is dried does it feel bare?

If it does, do a very light sanding at 220 then 400 grit. Use a high quality brush to apply varnish matching the sheen of the surrounding finish to the area. This only works if the color is not significantly lighter than original. The varnish will darken the wood a bit.

I’m a woodworker and used to own a construction company. Happy to answer any questions. The people at Lowe’s honestly don’t know anything and won’t be of much help

Take a photo and take it to Home depot or Lowe's for advice. There'll likely be more expertise there than on this forum.

Floor to get the paint off. 😅 and now I have small patches where the wood is lighter than the rest. How do I make it look like the rest of the floor? Do I need to restain those sections? Can I just go over my whole floor with a wood floor restorer? Would really love any guidance! Thanks!

You can find color matcher pen ( don’t know what they call it) from Lowe’s for the type of flooring you have.

Buy Goof Off. Don’t waste your time on anything else. Years ago I used to work for a paint company and we used this all the time

Sorry, didn’t read the whole thing. Disregard. Go with the wood pen, then sand and re-stain if you need to

P1, do you have a burner?

Did you try a razor?

Moved to the city about 6 months ago and I’ve been disappointed in my experience. I know the pandemic is playing a factor but I didn’t expect the winter days as gloomy as they’ve been. For those who have lived here for a while, is this normally what the winters are like? What do you do to keep things interesting when you can’t go outside? Last two months have made me consider moving but part of me feels like I won’t have given the city a fair shot

I’ve always been a big saver minimum 15% to maxing out my 401k since I graduated college. I’m married to someone who thinks 6% is enough and likes $$$ cars. Other than the cars, they dont really spend money. For the married 🐠, how do you have the conversation with them that what they are doing isn’t enough? I try to guide them and say you want the $$$ cars but the salary you have won’t get there and you’re going to have to find a job that gets them the salary…. Then the fight starts.

For those of you invested primary in index funds, do you have a combination you'd recommend? I'm 31yrs and currently have about $400k invested in a few stocks, mutual funds and ETFs. Looking for advice for investing in these two options. Say I have $100k by October saved up
1) Put 10k into iBonds and $90k as downpyament and closing costs for a property (I’ll need to put in 20%, already talked to several mortgage agents)
2) Put $0 in ibonds and put all the $100k in the home investing (given it’s a little more of an expensive property, given some other factors - location, size, etc)
