Advice to young lawyers. Read a book.

I saw the thread about savings and many young lawyers (20s and 30s) don’t know how to open up a brokerage account or invest in their 401k. I know they don’t teach personal finance in school (though they should!), but my advice is that you should go to your local library and read a book about the subject. You have the skills necessary but you must invest in yourself. No one will look out for you.

So. I’ll just come out and share that I was an average law student. However, I was involved in a prestigious clinic supervised by a big law managing partner so I ended up following him to his firm. Think bottom 25% student who got lucky! This partner has been a fantastic boss and mentor! I am a mid level now. Last week we settled a big case against a V25 firm. We won! When all was said and done I emailed the head partner on that matter to compliment him and smooth out things.

So I thought I had Covid - I took 6 tests and they all say the P word..
I’m in utter shock still. TTC 3 years

Does anyone have experience in the Midwest in house market, specifically St. Louis?

I just put in my two weeks to go to an AM 100 law firm to work in a niche practice area. I've never worked in a firm before. I started of doing compliance (non-attorney role) and then went in-house (acting GC for medium size company got a year). Any advice for someone who never had firm experience? If you went back to a firm what do you think you would have to prepare for? (Besides billiable hours and no life. ) Also, fwiw, I graduate in 2018.

I have been thinking a lot about this lately but I have been wanting to pívot to a different industry. I have been in the finance industry for the past 7 years and have enjoyed my time there. I want to better provide for my family and I have looked at Apple/Google for positions since they’re more lucrative (depending on the positions) to achieve that.
