I don’t know maybe it’s a personal call from a family member so they ask you too leave. Maybe they are in trouble with the higher ups so it’s embarrassing for them and they don’t want other supervisors to know about it. Otherwise I know myself and I would instantly think they were going to discuss me and I’m getting fired but that’s just me 😂
Yea its really hard to say without knowing the exact circumstances. It could be a personal call or something they just don't want you to overhear. I honestly leave when people are on the phone anyways out of respect so I woudln't read too much into it.
Without knowing the circumstances, it's hard to make a judgment on that. In general it seems odd to be asking people to leave the area. But if it's a call concerning confidential matters, it could be justified. But I can see it feeling overly dramatic.
Perhaps define the policy; include what is private and why, be very clear in your policy, then that way the meeting doesn't have to include the unnecessary people. From what I gather in your description above, you are the one not to be included which then means you are the problem. Maybe call a meeting; hence, forward.
To add more context, this is not for personal calls at all. I'm asked to leave for phone calls that are with, or about, the same staff that I am also supervising... I am basically a junior manager of the same people, and they are senior managers.
