Hi All!
I am currently a Senior Software Engineer(Backend) with 4 YOE. My current CTC is 21LPA (All Fixed) with additional Yearly bonus. I got a call from Google (Pune/Bangalore/Remote) for Software Engineer - Backend. I have the following doubts but any insights are welcome -
1. Does the lower designation offered make any difference?
2. Kinda ambiguous, but what kind of hike or ballpark pay can I expect?
3. Any similar interviews experiences or focus areas I should prepare for?
How is the work life balance in cognizant ?
Was scheduled for an interview today for a Director pos. early morning I get a Reschedule request to next Wednesday but I cannot make it due to personal commitment .
Called recuit mgr.to let him know and he tells me the director is very busy as she’s the IT. Dir for the whole org.politely asked him to send her availability other than next Haven’t received anything since then . Wondering if such co. Is worth pursuing that doesn’t value others time and that too a replacement pos for the same busy role 🥹

Read Case interview secrets first to get a feel for case interviews. Then read Case in point to learn cool brainstorming/market sizing tricks and also go through the example cases in that book. Then do 20 live cases (make sure you also give interviews to others too. I learned more by watching others do it to understand what not to do).
Then, watch practice runs done by Management Consulted. There was one by a Bainie who did really well, and there is also another one done by a girl on M&A case (the name of the simulation case is Margaritaville) . It sounds really harsh, but she was absolutely horrible in the video, and it gave me a really clear perspective on why many people fail case interviews (stuttering, not asking relevant questions, not using good transition words). Watch that video, and try to really understand what leads to bad case interviews. (She works at Bain now, so that just shows you can go from awful to killing it with enough practice)
After that, just keep reading bunch of NYT, Economists articles to understand macro trends in various industries so you can drop them in your actual interview; shows that you actually care about the economy/consulting.
I’d say 20-30 practice cases are where you maximize time put in vs things learned. I’ve found that rather than focusing on how to do a good case interview, focus more on what makes a bad case interview and try to be conscious of not making those mistakes. Good luck

I just used free case books from bschools. It’s arguably more important to find good casing partners than good cases
Casecoach.com . The brief courses and practice rooms did it for me
