How do you deal with the constant stream of rejections?

I was feeling pretty confident until this past Friday. I got two rejections (one I expected to be honest) and two other things Thursday shattered my self confidence. It reflected in the phone screener I had Friday and I knew I failed it after I was done.

How do you dig yourself out of a funk like that?

Don't take it personal, everyone's getting rejected. Employers are looking for absolute perfection.

Some days it hits extra hard.

Thursday getting two rejections along with a recruiter inquiring about a contract position (those are always shady to me) and another recruiter from a contract house that’s never gotten me an interview just took the wind out of my sails.

You determine what you can learn from the feedback or process and you march forward. Job hunting requires perseverance more than anything. Mentally shed the disappointment and continue to other opportunities. Never take your foot off the gas. If something is not working, make changes. We never know who we are up against, so we continue. Don't be shy requesting feedback. Ask people in your network to recommend you. Reach out to recruiters when they are listed and get meetings. Remember those rejections are not that you are a bad candidate, the company had another they chose. Keep going. Use all tactics, get with recruiters, and open your mind to contract roles.

One thing to add about contract roles I’ve experienced.

Everyone I’ve worked as a contract employee, I was always treated (to varying degrees) always as “less than” and I was seen as expendable.

Absolutely been there done that. I 100% blew a job opportunity that I wanted so bad, that the company squeezed me in for last minute interview, and I tanked it. I even asked if it was possible to redo it because I took ownership of how bad I did. But I wasn't awarded that opportunity and I understand. I know for sure there were a couple of questions that I could have answered much better, so now I have those answers prepared for future interviews. But admittedly, with the longer stretches in between interviews these days, I feel like I'm starting from scratch and don't have my flow once again. So I'll probably start doing some mock interviews. I suggest you try those as well. Hoping the best for all of us 🙏🏻 and remember you're definitely not alone in this sea of uncertainty.

Always, always remember, it is rarely about you. The market is brutal and employers are in no hurry. You can do everything right and deserve to be selected and still the employer chooses not to fill the position or chooses someone else.

Give yourself a moment to be disappointed. But then shake it off and get back at it. Keep in focus the things you can control, your resume, your interview prep, your job hunt process. That one 'Yes' might be waiting for you tomorrow.

I’m trying.

I’ve been hoping to land a job before my birthday in July.

It takes about 100 interviews across multiple recruiters, companies etc to get an offer. When I do an interview and I don’t get the job I always learn something new and I tell myself to add it to the heap of 100.

It's a numbers game. Way more applicants competing for shrinking number of jobs.

I got no solutions just gotta keep finding new ways to connect with people.

That’s fair.

When this whole thing started, I’d hoped to get back to work as soon as possible. I wanted to avoid any contract work. My experience with contract work has been less than pleasant.

Should I leave my first permanent job as a team leader of 4 DPs in a FMCG business (only been there for 4 months) to join a huge Tech business for a 12months contract?

They offer me 60% more money than my permanent role. Circa 2000 dollars every month in my pocket

However, I am worried if I accept the tech role and I do not become permanent I will be looking again for a job in 12-24 months and my CV won't be showing a managerial position. Won't be showing any progress.

How does contract to hire work? If I’m offered $37/hr on w2 for 3 months and then possibly a permanent position, how much can I expect to get annually as a full time company employee as a BI data analyst II? I have a M.S. and certificates in DA but this will be my first job as DA.
I prefer working for what is offered on contract without negotiating, and then negotiate when I transition into the company itself so I have a better chance of getting the contract position and show my skills.
