Rising Star
Speaking as a partner who is making this transition, what I desperately want is someone I can trust to handle things correctly that I can delegate to. In short, treat the partner as your client and show them how you will work with/for said client, accommodate their quirks and anticipate their needs. Once the partner sees they can trust you, then will stop micromanaging as much, which will be a huge relief for both of you.
Best of luck!
Often the driver is a lack of trust/inability to trust. (Other times it’s them trying to churn bills).
Get on the same page on how they want things done and their style of writing.
Set up weekly meetings to go over the gameplan and get their approval on next steps. It might be helpful to send an agenda in advance with a status of where things are. Eventually you’ll prove yourself and they’ll ease up.
Other times they nitpick for the sake of nitpicking or because they don’t have enough to do. Those sorts you bury with work. Send them a draft of every email for their blessing. Every draft with minor revision goes to them. Eventually they won’t have the bandwidth for that and you’ll be free.
