Hi Google - I am requesting guidance!
I am prepping for my interview specifically GCA and open ended questions. I struggle to tell if the outcome should be talking through your process/steps (maybe for a question like - how would you go about determining program complexity) vs a specific solution such as create x new product, for x market by x date based on my assumptions. Is the desired outcome something I can clarify with the interviewer?

Work for creative directors who have made big and famous work themselves as creatives. They are usually more talented in spotting great ideas. And they are more generous and ready to give back, since they’ve already showed to themselves and the world they can do it.
CD’s who haven’t made that one big campaign (or more) themselves will always have a chip on their shoulders. They will always feel the need to prove they can come up with great ideas, often to the expense of the teams working for them.
Doesn’t mean a CD can’t come up with ideas, but only to fill the gaps the teams left.
This is the answer. Not everyone who makes it to CD is great. Some fail up. Some are good sales/client people. Currently working for a CD and every writer under them (except the Juniors) have worked at better agencies, made way better work and have won more awards. Everyone is consistently baffled by the decisions and taste. It’s hard. It’s frustrating. It sucks. Flip side, I’ve worked for a couple proven and brilliant creatives. Way more fun. Way less stress. Way less questioning yourself. Way more confidence in what direction we should be going.
This is a huge misconception when you’re a mid/Jr writer - CD’s are ‘threatened’ by your creative powers! In reality, unless you’re a 10x lion winner at this stage, no CD really feels threatened and ego sometimes makes us believe that.
Oh for sure. But when did OP say “threatened by my talent” and why is everyone assuming they’re a junior?
If you’re a talented creative, creative directors will want you on their team because your ideas, work, and ability to take direction with minimal handholding, makes them look good. A creative director is only as good as the team doing the actual day-to-day work.

Loving the confidence! But why would a CD feel “threatened” by you when they know they can just take the credit for all your work? 😂

Or vice versa.

Tbh I have never seen this at any agency I’ve been at. Are you at a small shop? A CD who is threatened by anyone other than another CD should not be in the position.
I recommend you reach out to your network and do a bit of a fact finding mission. Find the people you trust and ask them who the best CDs they know of are. Then try to connect with those CDs and get on their radar and ask them who the best CDs they know are and keep building that web of connecting to great CDs and hopefully eventually something hits with one of them.
