Accept it for what it is. There is just no pleasing some people. Not fun to deal with, but it's also no reflection on you or your abilities. Knowing you did a good job is enough; the praise from others is just icing on the cake.
But “knowing you did a good job is enough” is so true. Thank you
Have you seen the movie “Whiplash”?
If you’re doing this for praise, you’ll never feel satisfied because the goalposts shift with every project. There’ll always be one person (maybe a client, maybe a coworker, maybe a CD) who thinks you’re not their tempo.
So try to separate validation from craft. You show up because you care about the creative, not because someone claps for you at the end. If you know you pushed it, explored, solved the problem, and got some evidence for your portfolio, that’s the only part you can control.
Love this. I haven’t seen the movie but I think I need to. Love that shift from external to internal validation and self knowing. The last part - evidence for your portfolio is the ultimate win. Thank you CD
I recommend you try to get switched to a different team or look for a new job. Toxic bosses aren't worth the stress.
This person is above all teams in the office 😃😃 I’d have to switch offices or jobs to avoid the CD
My only concern in this would be job security. Is that just how that person is with everyone, or specifically you? I’d watch for that.
And that’s why I have been worried!
