I would absolutely love this, bringing my dog to the office would make my day so much better. With that said, I get why we don't have this policy. It could be really problematic if anyone has allergies, and as much as I love my pup, I have to admit he's a major distraction. I don't blame people for not wanting to listen to barking while they're trying to get work done.

Yeah I totally agree. Luckily nobody in our office has allergies, and the dogs that do come are really well behaved. I think it is more of a case of people not liking them here.
As much as I love dogs, I think it's a bad idea. I worked for a startup years ago that did days once a week when people could bring in their dogs. After the quirky novelty wore off it honestly became annoying. I personally had to break up a fight when a large dog pinned a much smaller one in the reception area. And there were other notable accidents, so to speak. I don't even know if it's good for the dogs, some of them are just wired to want attention and when people need to work and can't pay attention to them it's confusing for them.

I feel that my company does it well that we only have 1 dog in at a time and to be fair, the owners are really great with them. Taking them out every hour or so, none of them bark. They sort of just lie down all day ! :D That's not the case for all dogs though, and I can imagine it would be hard to say no to someone who has a more yappy dog if they are allowing someone elses dog to come in!
Yeah I’m honestly not a fan of pets in the office. I get that they can boost morale, but they can also be distracting or even stressful for some people. I wish it felt easier to voice that without it turning into a “you hate dogs” thing.

I feel like its actually a really common opinion, but its exactly that, people not wanting to be seen as hating dogs. You can love dogs and not want them in your work space 100%

I love it! The receptionist at my last job brought their dog to work with them every day. It was a huge morale boost. And although I’m allergic to dogs, I think it being a big open office space helped it to not trigger my allergies.

Personally I also love having dogs at work too. When it works I think they are so lovely to have around. Especially as I don't have any at home!
Hi I have a dog she is little and disruptive lol the office is no place for her
Hey just a heads up you’re posting using your real name idk if you want to post more anonymously but just figured I should give u a heads up

Haha, that's totally valid!
Thanks so much. This post isn't too controversial so I am not too fussed with having my name! Going forwards though I will go anonymous! Thank you :D
Not a fan unfortunately. I love dogs and have two of my own, but dogs in the office is different. They are distracting, they get hair everywhere which non-pet owners don't always love taking home (fair enough!). And of course, coworkers with spoiled, untrained dogs can ruin the whole office vibe.

100%, it makes a huge difference if the dog is not well behaved. I had also never really thought of the dog hair being an issue, but that is a really valid point!
I mostly love that I work in a dog friendly office. I don’t have a dog of my own so having the ability to play with someone else’s dog throughout the day is nice. I will say there are some days it gets a little hectic when 20 people bring a dog in at once and I’m not exaggerating. So I wish it was scheduled out a little better.

Wow, that sounds chaotic. My office is quite small so we only ever have 1 dog in at a time, so it does work quite well for us. Totally agree though, I also don't have a dog so its really nice to be able to cuddle and play with them at times!
I wish that my office allowed pets in the office! I understand for allergy purposes they can't allow it but it would be so fun if people could bring their pets in. Pets make the environment so much better.
