What percent do you think big law firms collect on large class action lawsuits? On average, assuming it is all on a contingency basis.

Large law firms do defense...so it's not on contingency and they are going to do everything to stop the case as early as possible.

Well the firm I'm talking about (they're in the top 75 of the AmLaw 100 firms) is specifically representing the plaintiff class in a large class action lawsuit.

Which is why I asked.

The maximum allowed by law in that jurisdiction.

like

33-50% depending on the plaintiffs firm

My firm does not allow contingency cases by default. You can get special approval, but it’s rarely granted.

My firm does not generally allow for contingency.

For employment class actions typically 1/3

Almost no biglaw firms do contingency work. Though I’ve heard of firms like Quinn doing some plaintiff securities class actions. In those cases, “reasonable attorneys fees” are awarded by the judge. Depending on the amount, could be 5-10% or up to 33%.

I have a client (employer) that wishes to hire a worker that is currently in an H2B visa. Two questions: 1. Do I use the same 9142B to apply for the change of employer, and 2) because it is a change and extension (he is on year 2) it won’t count against the quota?

I have accepted my sexuality and found peace with the long battle of wanting to be something not what I actually am. On one side I have a lot of pressure around me being gay and trying to get a PR and get out of India, on another side I have a lot financial issues. I’m trying so hard to focus on work and to meet the expected bar for my current role. But the office politics here is toxic and always putting me down. Just wondering whether things will get better ever.

Relatively new position at a coveted firm as their Marketing and BD manager. Have suffered burnout and depressive episodes previously: can feel the symptoms raising it’s head. Most importantly, struggling to tolerate how directors speak to me, whereas previously I wouldn’t take it personally and get on with it. Actively looking for a different position as I’ve come to discover this company exploits EME employees, but want to attempt to end on a “high note”.

Senior attorneys at v100, how common is it for attorneys who start at small firms to lateral to biglaw? Have you worked with any? Conventional wisdom is always that if you don’t start there it’s hard to “trade up”. My coworker and I just did it to two different great v30 firms, and I’m wondering if it’s really that uncommon?
