You will be dead on arrival - don’t join PwC if you have an option please.
Is it that bad? Work hours? Culture? Org structure? What’s the beef?
They probably have work in the pipeline for you to start on. Maybe not. If it’s critical to shift, that’s probably okay. If it’s because you want a month of holiday maybe not the best idea. I would talk to them and be delicate, ask what they have you working on day one, don’t just come in straight with the real question. Be diplomatic and negotiate
I would ask - very politely, but I would ask. Under the context of “I wanted to check in on my start date. If there is project work lined up for me already, or any key activity you want me to start on, I’m happy to keep my existing start date we agreed on. I have had a couple personal items come up, so if there isn’t a project lined up, and it would be helpful to PwC (eg if it would help your practice utilization goals), it would be personally helpful to me for up to another 4 weeks delay to my start date.”
I probably wouldn’t have the conversation with an HR person, might be better to have it with a partner you interviewed with (if you did).
