How honest are you with your friends and family about how the business is really doing? There’s pressure to project confidence, but that can feel lonely when you’re stressed or scared.

Both my grandparents died within the last few years (husband/wife) and now the siblings (including my dad) need to divide up the remaining estate. My dad is the oldest and has been the primary caretaker for both of his parents, who lived to their late 80’s/early 90’s and his disabled sister. He also manages an apartment building for the family. Now the youngest brother wants to do a bunch of auditing of accounts and is ready to take my dad to court. I’m like, you had 15+ years to get (cont)

For startup founders/people with a successful side project: How did you get the idea/inspiration for your business? I’m currently working at a Series B startup and my end goal has always been to found my own startup, but I graduated from college 2.5 years ago and I still have not had any great ideas cross my mind. I do spend a fair amount of time brainstorming. I don’t want to continue working here forever, but I’m struggling to generate that “this is it” idea to build a company for. Any advice?

Apologies in advance for the rambling post. Maybe more of a confession but feels better to post here. There are a few people in my life (either family or acquaintances) that have become beyond successful. I strive to follow in their footsteps but have no clue how to do so. I am “successful” as an attorney and am doing my MBA, but have long wanted to start my own business and have no idea what that would be. I noticed two of the people I referenced above have become successful due to their…contd

Do recruiters and Hiring Managers actually review and read resumes? Also tech companies that sell SaaS, what is it with the requirements of having 10 years or more if technical sales experience? Also the ramp up period is not realistic. Average sales cycle for a reputable SaaS provider is 12-24 months. How on earth a start up can state that their ramp up period is 90 days? The company hasn’t had any new sales either. Start up CEO’s… be realistic or seek enough funding to operate.

I have a question about pricing. Some context to my upcoming question: My brother and I are starting a personal training business. I have six years military experience and he is still in the military. Collectively we have passed the hardest schools in the military and both love fitness and have experience building programs and are both certified personal trainers. I don’t know weather we should charge on the higher spectrum because of our experience or lower because of our business infancy.

What’s a profound way to start a business? The desire to make social and economic impact? Or personal wealth? What should be the main driving factor? I’m curious what your guys’ thoughts and opinions are on this. Feel free to drop a comment :)
