I was just offered a CUNY role. The title is Higher Education Assistant. According to Glassdoor, the average annual pay for that role is $83,418. However, I was offered $62,500. I requested for the minimum annual salary to be 75k. Does anyone have experience navigating the CUNY system and their pay?

It is helpful to land jobs and job opportunities, but would not go so far as to suggest it is a direct influencer of salary negotiations with current employment. So, it can help you indirectly if you leverage other jobs in the discussions.
It’s always intimidating seeing job descriptions say a bachelors is a definite requirement. But - I know some say “or experience”.
You didn’t say how old you were just that you were older, here’s what I would tell you – if you’re truly looking for the degree then go back. If you are looking for a much quicker result to your bottom line, go and get a certification. Especially if your company does tuition assistance.
Now that may mean you pay upfront and some of these are a few thousand dollars, and then get reimbursed. Either way you have to have the grade to pass either the courses in the degree or the certification. If I had it to do all over again, I would get my bachelors and then go get 5 or 6 certifications.
I’m 39 this year. I wish I would’ve just went for my BA a long time ago before kids. But I’m not sure what certs are beneficial and transferable at the moment (if any exist). I’ll have to research more. I appreciate your input. My company has a tuition reimbursement program. Not sure if they do it differently for certs. But I’ll look more into it too.
I don’t know if you’re still a business analyst, but there are certifications out there for that. And there are tons of jobs out there for that. I know sometimes people don’t put down their actual current title simply because they want to remain anonymous. Definitely pursue that. I got my bachelors at 49 and my masters after that. I wanted both of those degrees and my next steps are certifications. Right now just enjoying not having to write a paper a week.😂
