They can both co-exist. You’re comparing apples to oranges. There’s a reason why ETH is transitioning to POS. BTC is a scarce digital assets with an encoded monetary system that can allow the world to operate debt free T+0 (the perfect gold standard). Personally I would buy BTC and borrow against it.. the demand for the most scarce asset in the world will only go up. I believe it’ll become the best form of collateral
Was that you who offered the bitcoin collateralized loan from Goldman this past week?
I don’t see any valuable low risk Defi project. They are managed by individuals and not centralized (one point of failure, founder(s) can jump the ship with everything because they participated on initial distribution and have power over the systems). All Defi projects are pure marketing and don’t use fully potential of decentralization.
Loans, deposits, coins, NFTs none of these.
They can be implemented on any centralized database
Am I wrong ?
Then I tend to agree with you. DeFi seems like a more efficient centralized finance to me, which is great. But a network has to compete with all the other blockchain networks as well as the legacy finance system that is much better funded. Waiting for that 'ah-ha' moment because it sure seems like I'm wrong based on valuations and buzz in the altcoins space, but I'm not there yet. Proof of work seems transformative to me. Proof of stake seems like software that can be programmed within the walls of a bank which already understands international regulations much better.
Rising Star
Be careful listening to any of these clowns. They don’t know anything besides how to jump on a trend where everyone can see the direction it’s going.
BTC and ETH both seem like reasonable investments. A little less speculative than other layer 1s and 2s. Maybe there’s a future for Avax and solana and Luna and Matic and others, maybe not. But those two main ones should be fine, if crypto thrives. Don’t overthink it or pollute with whatever nonsense those fools cook up to hype their bags.
Listen to Craig Wright and you will have no damn clue what to think. He challenges every aspect of current BTC while alleging he is the creator of bitcoin
Chief
Craig Wright is a scammer. He's made a fortune from convincing people of things that aren't true. He's very good at it and you likely aren't immune so I'd be careful listening to him.
Whoever gets the best developers and attracts the most users will win in the end. It's all a game of who will win the user adoption. Currently, whether we measure users in number of people or initial capital investment from centralized institutions is the question to me. I measure in number of people, and bitcoin clearly has a first-to-market advantage.
I personally think proof of work has more value in the longterm than proof of stake too. Reasoning there is more philosophical to me.
Integration between networks is likely to be lucrative too. There can be more than 1 network. Sovereign nations are likely to have differing opinions on what they're going to allow. And those nations will prosper or decay by its decision.
So as a developer if I want to succeed in life and be involved in crypto world, I shouldn’t build Defi apps on eth-like platforms, but earn money the way I love and invest in bitcoin
