For entry to mid level, I don’t think it matters at all. If you are aiming for higher levels, like any job, having connections will help with that. You could say it helps on the entry level too, but it by no means is a necessity. Things are a little different right now with getting a job that is the general of it.

Unfortunately, it does. You need those references though they may actually be to your detriment. In government you will find that you might even need the approval or recommendation of your current manager or supervisor. If you do not have a good relationship with them,the next department that you're trying to get into will listen to them over you completely not knowing or caring that you aren't the problem in that relationship. Unbelievably,to transfer into a department in the same agency can be impossible because that a-hole will always be in your way. The supervisor/manager then becomes like your slave master (no racial preference here) because they can keep you from progressing in your field and keep you in their toxic environment,leaving you with the option of quitting. I think the transfer/agency or department rules on this should exclude the necessity to need supervisor approval or nod because you're trying to leave their supervision for a reason they are likely responsible for. And for fxcks sake....if I already work for your agency, why do I need to give you references again?

Hi all,

I’m looking to relocate to Seattle. Does anyone know if any of the Big 4 are still recruiting campus hires to start in Summer/Fall 2023? I’m open to either Audit or Tax, but I have internship experience in Tax.

I applied and received an offer at a Big 4 in San Francisco (campus hire), but I’ve decided Seattle is the better fit for me as it will be closer to my hometown and family in Vancouver.
