How is the internal transfer process for a role like GCP TAM to GCP Program Manager (or similar)?

Are internal candidates prioritized? Are there politics around leaving your current team? Is compensation updated to reflect the new role or will all moves be lateral?

Am within the interview process for a TSC position at Google UK and have been asked to get ready with an offer expectation for total annual compensation (annual salary, bonus, stocks … etc) but am really not sure with 12 yrs of experience what to seek and what should be the proper grading level for such experience. Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Joining a big firm next week as fully remote lateral and flying out to home office for orientation. The schedule has me in office until 4:15. I’ve already been told I won’t have any actual work. Depending on how many people are there and how it feels, I was planning to stay an hour extra but should I hang around the office until later?
