How long did you take maternity leave in Biglaw? My firms gives 22 weeks for birthing parents, but hoping to get full six months, thoughts?

Took 8 months with my third, totally worth the unpaid time.

Took 6 months for each kid. If my actual leave wasnt that long, I just went unpaid. If you have the means and want to, just do it. Nobody at your firm is counting the weeks that intensely. Everyone just thinks of you as out for a long while.

like

18 weeks for the first and 20 weeks for the second. They also offer additional unpaid leave, but time wasn't annualized for unpaid time off (still makes absolutely no sense to me).

I got 16 weeks in midlaw, and my husband got 18 weeks in biglaw

22 weeks paid but I was a first year. Now I would probably take 6 months.

We get 20 weeks for birthing parents after birth but I also took off starting 4 weeks before my due date for paid medical leave

22 weeks paid as the birthing parent

18 weeks paid leave after birth, 4 weeks disability leave before birth. This time I’ll also take all my vacation time to extend the leave to about 6 months in total

6 months and hubby took 8 months (He’s an educator)

We get 18 weeks for birthing parents, plus we can tack on PTO that’s also included in prorating our hours requirement

Which state? There are also ways to medically extend your leave if applicable. Feel free to dm.
