I work in US Tax and had an experience of 3 year. Had got an offer of 14Lpa in another big4,but still don't feel like continuing in US Tax. As taxation is something I do feel like I don't want to make a career anymore, because of work life balance & also as it specialised. Please suggest other option worthy to make a career shift. You guidance will be extremely helpful. My highest qualification is M.com.

Is LinkedIn premium worth it?
Does anyone have experience interviewing with Deloitte Internal Services? I had my final interview a week and a half ago, and received positive feedback throughout. The hiring manager had positive things to say and mentioned they hoped to make a decision by the end of last week. It’s now Friday the week after. The role still shows as “Interviews in Process.” We did discuss potential start dates, but no salary. Any experience with receiving offers for an internal services role? Is this common?

Honestly, I expect to hear back within 4 business days. I think that's reasonable. If I don't, I expect it to be a no. I only hang hope for 2 weeks. After that, I assume they passed on me and don't think about it anymore. I have had a couple jobs reach back out way past that point, but 99% of them, if it isn't within 2 weeks, it isn't going to happen. Last time I was laid off, I had applied to around 160 jobs in about 4.5 months. I told my boomer dad and hes like "wow. And how many interviews?" I said "2" and he's like ".....all those calls just for a rejection?" I'm like "what calls?" He goes "after you applied, they called to say you didn't get it. Your phone must have been so busy" I laughed and laughed and laughed. He truly didn't believe it ghosting was a thing. He figured maybe here and there. Nah. I've been laid off twice, between the two, easily over 400 applications. Total interviews, 6. Of those interviews, 2 stuck, one each time. And of those interviews, 2 emailed me to say they wouldn't go further. The rest ghosted me. I really do understand why they don't respond to every single application, you'd need to hire for that position alone 🤣🤣 but it's rough out here and not hearing back is frustrating.

lol! Imagine getting a phone call for each rejection. Knowing businesses today they’d just use a recorded message. Businesses strip away the charm when they feel it doesn’t help their bottom line.
I apply and forget. Sometimes I’ll get lucky and that’s a nice surprise but always assume no one will reach out.
🤣 Is that on purpose or by default?
I never wait for a call back. Once I apply for the position I give it a couple days then I call asking the status of my application and when is a good time to schedule an interview. Once I get the interview, I give them a week to respond with feedback. After a week I follow up on the status of the opportunity of being on their team. I have gotten every job I’ve interviewed for. When looking for a job, the employer sees I’m assertive, and motivated for employment.
You going door to door responding to "now hiring" signs in shop windows, or what? Online postings almost never include contact information to keep people from harassing the recruiters or hiring managers.
I once got a callback in December for a position I applied for in July. And no, it hadn’t been filled or put on hold during this time.
Apply and forget is my advice.

The application and interview process is like sorting through garbage. Sometimes long processes, sometimes same-day callbacks, job descriptions that are different from the actual job, and the list goes on.

For the top tech companies I’m okay waiting a month, but for any other company if I don’t hear back in a week I assume I’m not getting an interview.
I’m still getting rejection emails from some jobs I applied to in January. Imagine if I waited for them all this time?
I could stand the pay cut but I must have Sundays off for a worship

I know people like that. They don’t mind working all the busy days but must have off their holy days. Totally reasonable.
Rising Star
Probably about one week after the deadline passes. And then into the start of the next week if the deadline was on a Wednesday, for example. After 2 weeks I figure I'm not being interviewed. But if it's a job I would really like and contact information was provided, I'll get in touch to ask for an update about when interviews will take place.
But the best advice nowadays is like what the others have said: send it in, forget about it, and move to the next application.
I will continue to wait till I get a respond.
Often times I get rejection letters months after I've applied for the job, if I'm lucky I get a response of some kind in a few weeks. 8 months into my lay off I've only had 2 interviews, one virtual and the other over the phone with one having the promise of HR reaching out to me to advance within the week, all for that promise to be empty 2 months after, despite after interview check ins and thank you letters from my end.
I hear you. RN, laid off last year the day after Christmas.
I have had many managers tell me that I will hear from them in a few days, only to be ghosted. This rude trend is not cool after I’ve passed screening calls and then traveled for the on site interview. I would prefer they don’t say what they don’t mean.
Too many applicants
These systems actually reduce workload for employers. So those who take too long (more than 3 days) to respond to you are demonstrating a red flag. Send a follow-up email expressing continued interest just in case and continue applying.
