Hey all - how do you guys sell or lead things you aren’t genuine believing in? It’s almost like a fake it till you make it? I find it difficult to be behind a product or technology I don’t understand enough of or believe and I previously used to work in sales. Also any books/techniques which help. I am often too genuine or objective.
Our lead partner takes calls on the floor at our client site. It’s rare that people do this, we know to book rooms. Their voice is very loud / stern. Is there any way to make them aware / book a room?
I believe improving one’s sales conversion rate is something everyone want to improve but no one wants to admit they would like to work it. Funny how lawyers will spend thousands on seminars to improve trial skills. But this topic is not discussed in our profession. I have read books in sales. But am unable to find any for lawyers. I want convert every lead I can. Does anyone have tips, books, cle’s or studied this topic?
This is consistent with the research findings in my book "Lead From the Future". The 5-10 year horizon brings as much to see opportunities as much as threats and is the north star; need even now
Does anyone have recommendations for thought leaders/influencers in the M&A space? Looking for blogs, books, YouTube videos? Not currently in the space, trying to learn more as I’m thinking about a pivot after a few years in consulting/startups

Leadership asking 500 people to book seat in office with 50 seating capacity.
I lead a team of women (ranging from 2-8 years into their careers) and want to advocate for their career growth with management. I’ve made the case for promotions and raises (have been pushing for this for months and keep being told “soon”—but I won’t give up), but I also want to try smaller asks and would love suggestions. Are there any books, one-off classes/trainings, virtual events, memberships, etc. that you’d recommend? Thank you!
Which books would you recommend to a product counel for tech startup about strategy, management, and leadership?
Looking for book, podcast and webinar recommendations for starting a new job in a leadership role. Thanks.
Latest episode posted! “Generals in the Making” is a gem of a leadership book and should be required reading for any early or mid-level professional. The book is an engrossing examination of how four army generals of World War II, each a major player in their own right, navigated the uncertain and tumultuous pre-war years in their careers. sphttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/black-market-leadership/id1523238553?i=1000533915181
Ladies, need some advice. I am in Scrum Master role for tech team that is more senior engineers and architects. Feeling very out of the loop as I am not involved in all the discussions and then asked for progress on items from leaders and that am I not aware of..
the team gets Ad hoc requests so new items come up after that stand up and SM/ M will ping folks directly. Feeling like I have become an assistant who updates tickets and books meetings..
I am studying for MBA and need 3 books. They are very expensive to buy, so I am wondering if any of you have access to a soft copy that you can share.

Any good books or suggestions to improve communication skills to speak confidently with executive or leadership. Many times I end up blabbering and having unstructured discussion.
Looking for an art partner to come in at the ACD or what my agency calls “group art supervisor” level. Fair warning: it’s pharma, but business is really healthy and leadership usually fights really hard for creative that doesn’t involve couples strolling down the shoreline hand-in-hand :) Hit me with your book if interested
When an agency is about to hire you as a creative lead but without seeing your book to find out what you had done in your career, is that a red flag to you as a creative?
What’s a book you’ve read that made you a better CD. Books on creativity, mentorship, leadership, etc. I want this thread to be a resource for everyone.
What books/reading materials or videos would you consider essential for c-suite leadership?
Just wanted to say, I posted in here about wanting feedback on my book and also about a mentor I can ask questions to bc I don’t have any female creative leadership at my agency. Con’t...
- fairly decent place to work (from someone who worked with the Vancouver and San Jose offices). never met a blue badger (permanent employee) who had awful things to say.
- Ashley Goodall (their SVP, Methods & Intelligence) co-authored a brilliant book on leadership and people management called “Nine Lies About Work” that makes me believe they can be an awesome place to work
- red badgers had low morale since they’re contract workers and can be terminated at any time

So many people without masks outside. Do you guys think the second wave will come sooner than expected? What if it doesn’t come? Could this have been a hoax?
Thought experiment for you, fishies.
We all love to hate on billable hours. What’s a real, feasible alternative???
Small agency owner 🙋🏻♂️ I’ve wracked my brain and have 3 biz model options, none great:
Billable hrs: Generally accepted. We all know the downsides.
Pay4performance: Big upside potential, tons of risks.
Project pricing: Cloak for billable hours. You have to estimate project cost with something.
Who’s thought of a better approach??? Genuinely curious if there is one.
135k fans at the Indy 500 with no masks today. The PGA championship was full capacity with no masks as well. Both events looked like a replay from pre covid times. Even the stars of the show didn’t really follow covid protocols for optics. Is this a false sense of hope or is covid over in the majority of American’s minds?
2.5 years consulting experience in public sector - mostly local governments, universities and NHS. Anyone out there hiring or willing to refer?

Thoughts on giving your two + weeks notice after you’ve been told you’re receiving a bonus (and it would actually be paid while you’re still at your current firm just after you’ve told them you’re leaving)? Or does everyone just wait until their bonus actually hits their bank account? Being able to give my two weeks early/mid December would be a lot better for me but don’t want to jeopardize not getting my bonus (which comes usually 3rd week of December).

Could someone advise the brand/type of shoe that is good for long walks (say 3-5 miles) and is comfortable? I’m not a runner but like long walks and hikes.. thank you
If I make base 150k plus 30-70k in bonuses each year, is it enough to consider getting an electric car costing about 90k? I’ve only ever bought 1 new car and it was under 30k. I technically don’t need a new car or an electric car but I’m really interested in the new Rivian SUV. My general monthly expenses aren’t a lot, which is why I am entertaining this new car as an option.
I'm a VP at Union Bank, which just got acquired by US Bank. I work in quantitative analysis. I think by salary is a bit below market for a VP ($120K). Obviously I'd love to make more. Have those of you at heard of any discussions about raises?
Separately, what is a normal salary for that role at US Bank?
I’m a Sr. TA Partner at a tech company & lead recruiting efforts and ops for my region (North America). On top of recruiting, I get to build, implement and execute programs and software solutions and I’m really loving this part of my job.

I’m moving from implementation consulting - where details are super important - to a strategy role, working with C suite executives. Do you read multiple books at once? Power through one at a time? Do you set a page or chapter daily/weekly goal? Only do audiobooks? Please share your reading habits so we 🐟 can borrow/steal like artists 🎨.
For me, I set 20-30 pg min/night and listen to a different audiobook to/from work. The audiobook thing is new as I've never read >1 at once. Considering 1 chapter/night w/ 3 different books (3 ch/night)... I just want to read them all though not sure - may muddle if one > others.
I just “read” we listened to “The Nowhere Office”. As we are RTOing it really struck home. Highly recommend.
