How often do you think about quitting your job? I find myself fantasizing about it every day. I’ve even cleared out my office even though I’m not quitting for another couple of months - and I swear it felt so so so good to walk out with a bag of my personal belongings. I have a couple of personal items still there and I’m like excited to take them back home with me on Monday.

Multiple times per week. I’m so maxed out on stress and work demands that I sometimes fantasize about working in a library or quaint bookstore filled with children and everyday patrons. Ah, but alas… I can’t afford such simplicity, golden (maybe silver) handcuffs and all.

Hate to say it but us lawyers have been played by the system. My wife’s cousin obtained her degree at a 4 year public college and was hired at Chase entry level tech solutions. One of those jobs that no matter how many times she explains it , it never makes sense. Works for a few hours at home then lays by her pool in the afternoon and gets paid $160k not including bonuses. She’s 29.

Hate to say it but a Latino paralegal doesn’t get played by having advocates and dirty practices of tapping into his calls and slamming phone shut between his mate is how lawyers played the Isis para! Sometimes I like to imagine that I won the lottery, and from now on, I can spend my life just enjoying it and the people around me, and maybe working on things that mean something to me. I swear, for a second or two the heaviness disappears and I feel present. But it doesn’t last long. It’s really sad.

Who you fooling kicko real heavy persistent slamming phone shut as I’m trying to talk to my mate correct ?

Every day with something to say and I live in your brains look at the forum I’ve created!

I was in biglaw for 17 years. The last 7 years became so toxic that every day I would sit in the parking lot for 20 minutes feeling nauseous and dreaded going up to my office. I kept suffering through it because of the compensation. I finally took the leap to go in-house 4 years ago. Took a 25% pay cut initially, but now my total comp is more than my last year at big law. Never been happier, Love my job and the people I work with. So there is hope. There are jobs out there that aren't toxic and still allow you to practice law at a high level.

like

ive done that. i couldnt sneakily take my diploma on the wall home without anyone noticing though. i got caught that i was going to quit so i got fired lol

like

Daily unfortunately. I’ve started applying to in-house roles but the interview process is slower than I’d prefer…in the meantime, I’ve started discreetly tossing all paper files and extras in my office and made a recommended staffing doc for my cases so when I get an offer I can more easily peace out

Hi,
I just had one hr call with some company. In that she kind of scared me if I'm not happy with the figure she mentioned she would drop the further process now. I got afraid and agreed but now I don't want to agree to that figure and I want to negotiate more. How this can be done. What ever I'm expecting is as per market standards n expecting 50℅ hike as fixed component. How should I get this done? I checked with other employees and my expected figure is completely normal.

I'm a third year plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm looking to move to defense, preferably still in employment law. I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.
