How similar are your different roles? Mine are all pretty similar, but I know some people who are basically working in two different industries.

The actual work I do is quite similar but never in the same field. My full time role is in clean energy, so when I take on contracts, I focus on other areas.
Mostly to avoid cross over on projects or ethics issues but also to keep the fact that I work nearly two full time jobs out of people's consciousness. I absolutely can complete all the work etc, but if people know you're working two or more gigs, any time there's a conflict or setback, this is an open door to say you're distracted etc.

My roles are pretty diff but I kind of like it that way. Minimize any potential overlap

All, I’ve been a lawyer for six years plus a judicial clerkship. While I love the law, I pretty much hate the current practice of it. I’m looking to do something with my law degree but not necessarily stay in practice. Any suggestions? Every time I look I get so overwhelmed that I stop looking.

We need to STOP glamorizing overworking. Please.

And it needs to change.

I really want to get a second job but I am scared of losing my current one. Both companies are in same field, although not direct competitors so I know it’s technically “not allowed” however, this is the only way for me to get that $$ since I am not paid all that well.

Of course I won’t tell a single friend/coworker. Only my partner. And I don’t post work stuff on social media.

The first rule of overemployment is dont talk about overemployment to anyone outside your house. :). Second: always protect the main job. Third: As the main job always has the priority, the Second and third jobs must preferably be contract gigs with not too many meetings everyday. Remember: another day, another dollar.
