30 years and definitely a well rounded life. In addition to family, friends and hobbies, charity is absolutely important.
I recommend everyone on this post reconsider this. Give your time, your wisdom or your money (or a combination thereof)....but give something. Give back to the community in some way shape or form. Leverage your success to help make the world a better place.
11 years in audit. Any free time is precious to me so I will not waste it on charity or religion.
I’m almost ten years in. Not well rounded. I have no plans for charity or religion. I have accepted a role at a firm that offers much better quality of life and plan to spend that extra time with my family. I will spend the extra money on Italian shotguns and bass fishing gear
Lol "charity and religion". Sounds like a pastor wrote this post... I have no time for that. Family and friends keep me well rounded
Well rounded in terms of work is different from well rounded as an individual. It might be difficult to achieve any of those if you devoted most of your time to a big 4. If well rounded is your goal, you need to find a group or a new job that allows that. That way you’ll be able to dedicate time to something other than the firm. It should be something that would make you happy ..... call it hobbies, religion, family, sports, professional training courses, etc.
I’m 10 years in and have 3 kids. I think I’m well rounded in that I work full time and still have time to go to school functions, some of which are at 3pm. I’m active in my church’s moms’ group and have formed friendships there, and we attend church every Sunday. I’m not at the point where I have ample time for service or see my friends as often as I’d like, but my kids are all under 5 years old so that’s a factor as much as my job is.
Other factors like charity, leisure, religion that give you balance? If you are not well rounded what are you going to do about it?
I'll pass. Been there, done that. Waste of time. Got nothing out of it and decided its not for me.
I’m 10 years in and feel personally well rounded (3 kids, travel, an home every night with my kids, spend time with friends). I could always feel like I could use more time for myself (exercising) and philanthropy, but my kids are still young and I think that’s a common parent thing (regardless of job).
