Information asymmetry benefits those at the top.
Share freely. Encourage it.
Love it
People are weird about comp IMO - it’s a reasonable question no ones out here working for fun
True
In my observation a lot of this is cultural. I understand that in some such as US it is uncommon for coworkers to share compensation, while in some others, such as India, and some other Asian countries it is quite common.
Agreed
Ask the director to pay your rent / mortgage if compensation doesn’t matter.
He said no
My firm went crazy a few years ago over threads of people sharing title, rough YOE, and comp. It started to pick up steam and there were active sr leadership discussions on how to quell and influence the dialogue.

Need to figure out how to normalize it. Glassdoor sharing is less powerful than Frank who-you-worked-with for 3 years

I'd only get made or care if the person is a clear slacker and males significantly more than me. I wouldn't be mad at them though. I would be more mad that I got comfortable enough to be significantly underpaid against my peers.
