Working on a regular desk and my laptop has been killing my back and neck for last few years. Finally spent a couple hundred dollars on a standing desk, wireless keyboard, and back/neck heating pad to alleviate the pain. Very hopeful working will be much better now.

Thoughts on what to get wife for her bday. Shes turning 30 and because of covid we cant do a big birthday bash like we were planning. Need your valuable insights. Having an YOE of 11 years and offered TechLead position with a CTC of 30 LPA (28.5 LPA Fixed) a month ago.

Though their WLB and culture seems good, I kept feeling that I am being lowballed which pushed me to give further interviews.

Received another offer for same role from another PBC for 35LPA (33 Fixed). Is it OK to ask the first company to revise the CTC (up to their best) where the DOJ is in 10 days?

Interesting all the noise about these PPT, my take:

The pandemic took all the upside of an IB analyst life (client meetings in person, fancy trips, suit up, worshiped at networking events) and left all the juniors with the downside (long hours, monkey-like type of job, aggressive work environment).

Not that the complaints are not sort of legitimate but you may need to revise the decision-making process that led you to accept a return offer. Specially if you were looking for less hours.

I just received an offer to lateral into banking. How does independence affect the stocks I currently own? If I join and my stocks are on a restricted list will I have to sell them? Or will I be limited to being unable to buy more/sell any during the course of my employment.

Closing in on a corp dev offer. I work at a boutique (~10 ppl) where the analysts/associates carry a lot of weight during deals. What is the longest i could push my potential start date back to for this new role? I don’t wanna leave while i’m in the middle of a bunch of things and screw over my current firm. Asking for wife who's also in banking. If she got ~$100k in signing bonus in 2019 for 1 year commitment in CA and started FT in July 2020, assuming she leaves before July 2021, can her employer claw back full amount in California? Some say it's much tougher to do so under CA law but wonder if anyone has any insights. Banks won't likely care about analyst signing bonuses, but associate bonus at EB with diversity bonus can be significant. If she quits before, she won't be going to another bank.

Have an internship next summer in a vertical I don’t want to work in and is completely unrelated to where I want to end up. However the firm is strong in PE. To try and break into that side after my internship at the same company, would it be more beneficial to take on a (very small boutique) PE internship or an IB internship this fall?
