I am 63 years old and have 30 years of Collections management experience working in banks . I currently have an individual contributor role job making $110,000 per year . Our office is only 5 people. I report to the owner . I've been here 3 years. I recently received a job offer of $110,000 for a Collections Manager for a Debt Collection law firm. They have a 401K plan but no match. My current job is very low stress , casual dress, and a very easy job. Is this new job worth the move ?

Is it worth it to be in management with potentially more work and stress the same pay? And also investing in a wardrobe needed for a law firm? At this stage in your career do you want more stress ? Are you concerned about losing your current job? These are questions you’ll have to weigh but based on what you shared I’m not sure if I see any benefit to moving

like

What benefit is there to moving? You make the same money. Sounds like more work. Maybe there is a benefit I am missing.

There is no ben other than being in Management again

I’d stay. It’s low stress and you know what each day will bring. I’m not trying to call you old, but what would be the point of going into management at your career stage?

I’d take low stress over just about anything.

like

Since the pay is the same, I’d stay unless you want to take on more responsibilities.

I spent a year in tax investigations where I believe I was thriving ( I was going to be an assistant manager in July 2023), I had a lot of assistant manager jobs, I even drafted a Code 9 report to HMRC which my manager said was 80% of an actual report, he then added the 20% and submitted it.
After I realised I couldn't maintain all the unpaid overtime I was working I decided to take a turn and go to compliance, so now I work in CT compliance. I feel very surpressed.
