Ok be honest, candidates. I really love this set of questions, I’ve been considering shifting my current interview style to these questions - I think they really give you an idea of who this person would be within the work setting. But the questions almost feel too deep for a recruiter to ask. What would you think if a recruiter took a different path and asked these questions instead of the usual ones?

Good. Use it as an opportunity to interview them.
This sounds pretty unorthodox. I’ve had candidates interview with different teams to determine best fit, but I’ve always told the candidate what client teams and an overview of the work. I’d press for more info so you can properly prepare
I feel like I should be given basic details about the role, especially when its not just a preliminary call or an in-person couple ppl, but hours of interviewing. Is this normal for interviews now?
I agree with recruiter 1. Say you’d like to properly prepare so that you can make the interviews the most efficient and helpful for the people you’re meeting with. Then insist on answers to your questions. If you’d like to press the issue more, say you’d like to be respectful of their time and want to make sure you’re a good fit for the role being going into the interview.
Thank you both, that’s great advice!
Director 1, I don’t think the concern is multiple interviews in a day (or even at a time) the concern is not knowing which clients/teams. OP is looking to be prepared and it’s easier to do that with communication and transparency.
I’ve done interviews for multiple teams but have always been told the teams which allows me to research and prepare answers like: “what do you like about this brand”
No, you’re definitely right about that.
(Meaning you should be given those details.)
I asked the recruiter for more details and she said they have a couple roles open but the team decides the best fit when they meet the candidate. That seems like throw em up against the wall to see what sticks...in this job. Should I ask to make the interviews calls or just cancel and forget it?
When we have multiple roles open at the same level we do this too. It’s easier than having the candidate come back three times to meet with three different teams. It’s called efficiency
@APD 1-yes, thank you! I’ve met multiple teams in one day or over the course of days/weeks before, which is typical. The issue I’m having is say there’s 3 roles open at my level, but I’m only interested in 1 of those roles because of the client or specialization, etc., then I’d rather not waste the time of the other 2 teams, knowing I wouldn’t want their role. Or maybe 1 role requires expertise I don’t have. I can’t speak to any of this or prepare without the pertinent details that recruiters are usually transparent about.
