Go for it! You're young & life us short!
Wish I would’ve done this before I got married. Wife and I have thought about doing it but she’d have to quit her job.
You should totally go for it. No better time than now!
About 10k on a travel trailer/5th wheel, probably another 2-3k on reno, and then I’m budgeting about $35-40k for a brand new F150. Then I would also plan on volunteering to be a camp host for one campground and essentially have the campsite for free.
Slight update, been out and about for 2.5 months. Bought a 2011 F250 6.7 PowerStroke from Texas with 60k miles on it and a 33ft bunkhouse travel trailer. My office is in the back bunkhouse and it is working great! My current gig changed their stance and said no to a fully remote job going forward, so I just got an offer for 20% more compensation from another firm and 100% remote! Thank you to everyone who told me to do it, y’all fish are awesome!
Awesome to hear. I'd like to see a picture if you get a chance!
Another update for y’all, been on the road for 9 months now. Pickup a little buddy, his name is Ranger. In this pic we were boondocking (camping with no electricity or water) in South Dakota.
Congrats. I decided to move abroad instead of getting a camper!

Go for it, it will be something you remember your whole life
Doing it myself this summer! Definitely recommend it. Just be sure to travel slowly if you’ll be working full time. Traveling while working and then also enjoying the places you are visiting is tough.

Do it man. I’m in my late 30s with a big family to feed. It’s great, but I love looking back at crazy experiences I had, and while I never did something exactly like this, I can guarantee you will look back on it fondly.
How much are you looking to spend?
I’ve thought about it a lot recently, but unsure our firm would let us next summer. However, I’m a line CX consultant so perhaps a different practice/project type would permit it.

This is a great idea! But perhaps harder in practice. Have you RV’d before? I learned a lot about my likes and dislikes from doing this last summer for 2 weeks (not working much).

So I’d recommend renting something at first to figure out the right Setup. This is what I’d do. I actually think some of the smaller tow behinds could be better if designed very well with space in mind, and id buy or build a great “folding desk” and comfortable “folding chair” So I could pitch outside my camper for work. I don’t remember what these are called but the ones that look like eggs is what I’d get, I mean I’d I could buy one of those covered Mercedes tour bus camper things :)
No, that sounds like a fun adventure. You should even go to Southeast Asia, live on $20k a year like a king and bank and invest the rest.
True, but still very cheap. Have you been to all of those cities? I loved the energy in Hanoi when I visited last year.
So jealous. Should totally do it!

Do it now. Don’t wait.
