I am about to retire after 26 years in the Air Force, degree in Human Resources Management, Six Sigma Green Belt, working on my PMP certification and also MBA. With all, I am having no luck landing a job. I am looking into to go into HRM, PM, or Business Development. If anyone can, please help me out.

What did you do in the Air Force? That is a much more technical branch than say the Army. What would the civilian equivalent be for your role. You will have a high chance of landing a position like that. What is your dream job / role you are looking for right now? Search LinkedIn for people in those roles who came out of the military, then email them to ask for a quick networking call. They can give you advice as how to approach the search / may know of an opening. Good luck! You are in a good spot…try explaining your Infantry experience in the civilian world!

The job market is awful right now and especially jobs in HR. Its really hard to break into the HR space from everything I have heard. I would suggest posting in the job referral bowl to see if you can get any leads in there. Best of luck to you.

Just from reading your post, I’m going to make an assumption that your resume is too broad and includes too many things. You need to tailor it down to the specific job posting. Also what level of jobs are you looking at?

What MBA are you getting? (Or did you get)

It's time to diversify and remember whatever expectations of how you were treated in the service doesn't apply in Civilian world, you're just another civy

Given your current skills set you may just be looking in the wrong places, Try banking or auto finance Once you
have done either one of these two lines of business for about a year and a 1/2.You should have no problem with shifting over to HR, And doing something different than what you are accustomed to doing will definitely show your level of versatility.

I am a traditional reservist so I never really used military benefits before, but could use advice here.

I am currently renting and my lease is not up until October 2021, however I found a good deal on a home and scheduled to close in June 2021.

My landlord will not work with me to end the lease early, so it looks like I will have to double up on rent and mortgage through the summer.

If I went on active duty orders, can I use those orders to break my lease early without penalty?

To all the post-9/11 veterans, it’s a somber day that unites us all in the reason we fought. It’s easy to forget - especially with the younger generation having 9/11 be a history lesson rather than something they lived through. The waters became muddy with two wars and politicians, but you all stepped up and did your duty. Thank you all for your service, it’s an honor whether we crossed paths or not.

Anyone here downshift in life post service?

Feel like I've been going full bore for the past decade and literally have no problem continuing the trend. Like I could just keep marking milestones and grinding or whatever until I die.

Wondering when if anyone else felt similar and decided to pull back and do something more relaxing. What was the catalyst, what are you doing, and are you enjoying it?

I'd considered taking up a 9-5 somewhere but not sure if thatd wear off fast.
