I am currently at a firm in the tax department. I have had enough of 2 tax seasons a year that seem to never end! How do I make the transition to private (Controller, Acctg Director, etc) when all the recruiters I talk to want to only put me out there for public accounting firms in Tax Manager positions?

knows what the job entails exactly. I keep hearing about people "fooled" into taking a job in risk advisory thinking it'll really be advisory while they only end up doing IT and Audit support (which I do not want to do).

I've received an offer from LnT (29 LPA), is that good enough to resign now , considering my CCTC is 25.8.

Also, I'm almost 90 pc sure that i may be released within a week of resignation as my project contract has not been renewed and we're in handover phase.

Could you guys please advise me, as to what should be my course of action here? Should I resign and can I get better opportunities in the next 1 month?

Is it just me or does it seem like everyone in FDD is in for the long long haul? I remember in audit everyone would talk about quitting or how they're only going to do audit for a few years to get experience and then leave. I'm not really seeing the same in TS. Just my observation.

Possible to get into BigLaw or regional Big Law without top grades as a non-traditional lateral? Been out of law school several years, have five years of industry adjacent quasi legal experience and am in my second year at a traditional boutique firm practicing corp/securities.

Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? Firm will file (premium processing) for my H1-b extension to support my ongoing Perm process (no I 140 yet). Once i have the extension, will I be able to switch to another firm with just the extension and no i140 ? I assume my perm will restart in new place if they agree to ? anyone has done this?
