That's a touchy subject. The Goodnight is a great way for the organization to get new advisors to join the firm - usually in areas they want to expand but veteran advisors don't want to move to. Also, the $5M are households of $1000-maybe $150k and a LOT of them. So veteran advisors use it to clean out their books - and they still get 50% of the commission trails for a period of time - usually 2 years. For you it's good in that if you work them, they are at least warm leads to talk to, learn the business, etc. It's good all around, but don't think that's your business 10 yrs from now. Statistically you lose 60% of those clients in 5 years, but that's ok - they're not the ideal client you want to keep. It's a good thing for everyone involved- but it's not going to support you. You need $20M+ to be successful, which is why EDJ puts you on a 5yr/$26M asset growing plan. Hope that helps.
$5 million in assets is normally the low end. I received a $20m goodknight and $20m RTP 2 years later and I was very fortunate. $2.5-$10m is common. Just depends on the region.
I just got hired and am only getting 6. Is there a way I can source additional goodknight assets from others in the region?
Can someone explain “goodnight assets”
The guy’s last name that developed the program was Goodnight.
Got 5 but honestly would've been better off without it. Went Indy a few years and only have 2 clients from it still with me. Also - definitely favoritism in how assets got divided up
