What’s your handicap?
Taylor made stealth offers great forgiveness.
I did my fittings at Golf Galaxy. Cost is $100 upfront and you get that $ to be applied towards a set if you buy within 30 days. But I found a better deal on callaway pre-owned, so I just let them have the $100, and bought an almost brand new set and still came out ahead

Silly but if you’re going to a good fitter, don’t go in with any preconceived notions about materials. My brother refuses to touch graphite shafts and told the fitter no to the steelfiber shafts they recommended for his irons.
I struggled with the Steelfibers in my first fitting. The performance was good, but the kick point made them feel too whippy. I ended up with KBS TGI shafts after my second fitting.
I have a local shop I use for fittings here, but I have heard some people had luck at PGA superstore. I went to a Taylormade fitting day at a local country club and did it that way
The approach to getting fitted really depends on what you’re looking for and what your skill level is.
I like to get informally fit/kick the tires on new models from time to time via PGA Tour Superstore, demo days at a range, or other golf shops for free. Mainly to see if I get some performance improvement, but also for an improved look/feel over my current setup that results in needed a confidence boost.
When I get serious about purchasing, I’ll pay for a formal fitting. I try to go into this open minded, but I already have a bit of an idea what works based on the previous informal fitting/testing. I find this beneficial in that we can spend more time tinkering with a few specific models vs. having to try every model in the store. Occasionally they might have another model to throw into the mix that you previously haven’t tried and it tends to work out better. Once the fitting is over, I’ll then start to price things out and see if I can find it off the rack, pre-owned, or if I need to order custom.
Sub70 golf down in Sycamore if you're willing to make the trip. I can't say enough good things about them. The fitting process, the quality of the clubs, and especially the customer service are all top notch. They have a satisfaction guarantee and every order comes with the owners business card containing his cell number. He'll literally take your call from the golf course.
I’m in Florida but we have a sub 70 fitter nearby. Their site shows fitters across the country for @OP.
just had a fitting for my new irons. I had the chance to have my pro with me, that was perfect. HCP 19.2 here
Don’t buy game improvement irons. You don’t need extra forgiveness. All that does is make it harder for you to actually learn and increase your skill level. I immediately started playing better when I switched to blades. Much more control and mistakes less compounded than players distance irons. If you do need help with distance maybe players distance is right but never go with game improvement.
You can shape shots fine with cavity backs. Distance is more consistent with blades because they don’t have sweet spots like game improvement irons do. blades are not “hot” clubs. I could hit a P790 6 iron anywhere from 200 to 225 depending on where it hit the face. All felt the same. Tons of dispersion. My 6 for my blades goes 200 to 203 regardless of where I hit it on a full swing (assuming a someone decent strike). Pros are not shifting much and they only are for long irons if they throw some kind of distance iron in the bag
Club Champion has a deal right now for $100 for a full bag fitting
