Very impressive! I started during b-school, barely touched the clubs once I started consulting, but started playing a ton during the pandemic. Worked my way to a 16-handicap and would love to get to single digits over the next few years.
Getting better is just so rewarding
Nice work! What are you tips for getting your handicap down? I’ve played consistently for a year and have gone from +million to 18. Feel like I’m plateauing a bit.
At 18 youre averaging a bogey every hole. So its either your ball striking or your short game. So evaluate your game...are you losing most strokes on bad chips and missed putts or are you an inconsistent ball striker? Do you have trouble hitting greens? Do you often three putt? You need to identify the area where you lose strokes in a round.
Go get a couple lessons. Having someone that knows golf look at your swing is invaluable and you will learn so much.
I started playing in May of last year. Prepping for a Sept 2020 trip to Pinehurst. Went from a 30 handicap to 17 over the course of the year, and actually went back to Pinehurst in April and shot 94 on No. 2. I am an addict and I now plan on taking my golf clubs wherever I go. My handicap. I wish I had started playing before I was 37!!
Very true!
Nice work OP!
I’m there with you, totally hooked. I picked golf back up last year after a 13 year gap. Was able to go from mid-high 90s to a consistent mid-80s. From the comments it sounds like I’ll need to get some lessons to get into the 70s.
I wouldnt say you need lessons but you definitely need to practice effectively and look at your game critically to figure out where youre losing most strokes
Went from 22 GHIN to 13 past year
