I would submit for FMLA immediately, and use that time to tend to your family and look for another role. Use any saved up PTO during that time too.
They aren’t eligible for FMLA
I am so sorry. I would have a frank conversation with your direct boss. Tell her/him that you are glad to be a part of the team and would like to be able yo pull your weight. Tell her/him that you also work better with clear instructions and expectations, as does almost anybody ever. Hopefully this will open up conversations and they will give you some sort of indication. Good luck and best wishes.
Higher up has essentially taken over what I was hired to do without giving me a chance to perform. My son attempted suicide and my boss gave me a verbal warning in the midst of it all. I provided HR with proof and was told not to worry. My direct boss is super vague about everything and I am getting the strangest feeling that shes not wanting to commit to me. Their prime time to fire is at 5.5 months something I am 4 days away from. I am scared as Im the sole income in my house right now and I am afraid to ask in case it inspires anyone to actually go through with it.
With the tender circumstances which I suffered myself with my son as well, lost my job and fired. As much as you worry about your stability don't let this create stress. You can do anything you put your mind to and you deserve support and flexible hours with the circumstances you are experiencing. If this company can't show the value and care of their talented employees such as yourself they aren't worth your talent and other opportunities will be there for you. I wish you the very best for you and your son.
I'm sorry you're going through this :(
