If you do have the 5 minutes available, I wouldn't outright say no, I'd just try to set some sort of boundary before agreeing. Can you invent some obligation with a time constraint to keep these conversations closer to the 5-minute mark? "Of course, I only have about 15 minutes available right now though because of *insert obligation here*."
Oh man, I have no idea what I'd do then lol. That makes me feel awkward for both of you. You might have to start accepting fewer of these invites. Every now and then is one thing, but I'd fall behind on my work fast if I was constantly spending an hour of my day in these unproductive convos.
Yeah, this is such a huge pet peeve of mine. It always starts like it's just a simple question but it snowballs into a full-blown meeting. It would be fine if it was just once or twice a week, but it seems to be almost daily and it eats into my productivity. I've started asking my manager if he can email me about certain things when I'm exceptionally busy. That way, we can do a couple of back-and-forth messages without eating away at my entire day.
Is saying no an option? And then talking when you do have the time. I know some people mean well, but 5 minutes is never 5 minutes with them!

I feel like 5 mins always turns into 30+ mins with my manager. Thankfully, they usually only do this every once in a while. We have frequent 1:1s scheduled, so they’ll often just wait until one of those meetings to talk.
I'm going to be honest there are times when I start inching towards the door to get out of my bosses office. She will absolutely talk my ear off for an hour if I let her. Sometimes I just have to tell her hey I need to get back to xyz
