I am a CPA in the process of trying to switch to tech sales. I was in the process of trying to schedule a second interview with a tech company and got ghosted. Is this happening alot because of the recession? Should I keep following up?

Feel free to follow up, and not to discourage you but to be blunt yes and it’s going to happen a lot because there are already a growing number of laid off Tech AEs and BDRs entering the market because of a recession, so for the first time in several years depending on the prestige of the company and your location you may actually have decent competition.

I would always follow up. If I don't hear back in a week, I always follow up. It seems like lately recruiters have been really flakey and are ghosting more and more. If you don't hear back after a couple follow ups, it might be time to move on.

Follow up... remember, you're in sales now - always be closing!

So it is wasn’t a recruiter it was a lead for a sales team. Even if they don’t answer my follow up email. Do I follow up again?

Try calling if you have a phone number.
I normally do 2 follow ups then I'm done.

My magic number in sales is always 7 follow ups, but that’s for closing deals not necessarily looking for a position to get hired. That said, 7 is sort of the magic number to get a response back by.

Let's say I can't get a product or marketing job in tech, but I could get in via sales or customer success. Does working in those roles pigeonhole you, or is it easy to switch later? I have been talking to a recruiter for a little over a month about a position. I let her know out the gate that I really wasn’t looking to change jobs, but she just kept wanting to continuing the conversation. I’m having my annual review this week. Any advice on how to handle a) job offer b) review?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

I am considering an offer for an AE role (UK-LDN) where the base is £42k & OTE is £70k. The Regional GM has verbally promised to move it up to £50k base if I perform well during the probationary period, but I can’t have it in writing on the contract. I’ve tried to counter offer but they said I’m currently maxing the salary band (L4). This role is exciting as I’d be the first UK employee, doing the full sales cycle & more but I had the same base and ote as an SDR. Is it too low? Do I take it?
