I can't land a new sales job because my last one was at ADP where I did not perform well. It was partly because of being in a challenging territory where no one hit quota for the past 3 years. But I like the challenge and was one of the strongest performers they had in that territory. However, numbers are the only thing that matter in sales.

Don't be too hard on yourself, it's difficult for anyone to find a job these days. And when you apply or interview, be sure to spin those numbers in your favor. Compare what you did to what had happened before you. And push the idea that you like a challenge, that can mean a lot.

Thank you! After spinning numbers in my favor and the comparison to past reps a big question I get is why I left. My answer is that the deals felt very transactional, and I want to move into something more consultative in the tech space where I can really grow long-term and eventually step into leadership. Any suggestions on this?

Not a recruiter, so recruiters can beat me up if they disagree. Another angle, as long as it's true-ish, is something like, "Despite my successes, I thrive in an environment where I'm passionate about the product, and payroll solutions, while valuable, aren't what gets me going in the morning. On the other hand, (insert tech here, and launch into a conversation about why your excited about the product/service)."

I’m a 9th year in a mostly litigation-based practice group at a one-tier partnership firm. My group’s billable hours have been low the last few years, so making partner will be nearly impossible, and a counsel position is not viable long-term in my group. What’s the best option here if partnership is the ultimate goal? Try to get a NEP/counsel position at another firm, which is likely difficult in my market, or offer to take a class cut by a few years?

I’m a second year BigLaw associate that pays market. I was offered the position at a modified salary and hourly expectation due to their expected work flow needs. I’m wondering what is the best way to approach the topic of getting on the full salary/hours. Do I wait until the bonuses are given at the end of my first year? Or bring it up at mid-year review? I won’t have any problem meeting my hourly so I’m starting to think I’m being underpaid. I’ve been reading on here that not meeting
