I definitely feel like AI is less buzzword and actual technology which will change things, but how will this tie into our salaries? Do you see companies paying less because we can use AI to do more? Or get paid the same but expectations are higher?

Probably same pay and higher expectations. As a result, fewer actual roles.

like

I’m sensing the same. Do you work in consulting? Has your role changed?

Same pay and loftier expectations IMO. Companies will be paying less on the whole because AI will allow them to increase productivity without increasing headcount. In theory, anyway.

Are you seeing anything in your industry?

That's a great question, but I have no idea

funny

What industry do you work in Todd?

Agree. Two people used to do my role. One left after 5 or so years, and 2-3 months later, the other one left (also after 5 years), for similar roles but more responsibility at bigger entities. The role got consolidated into one. I don't earn both their pay combined. But I have to do the same amount of work and am expected to leverage AI tools to assist. It's still a lot of work, though, more than one role can reasonably handle.

Worked until 10:45 pm this pas Monday and Tuesday, with 1 hour drive home, and then had to deal with my livestock. Worked until midnight remotely the next two nights and then dealt with my livestock. It is now close to 7 pm on a Friday and still in the office slogging through work to reduce the amount of work I have to do this weekend since I have so many things to take care of at home and errands to run. You tell me: do I sound burned out?

Spoiler alert: yes, I am. I am trying to get enough pay this year to save up, sell my home and things and get my pets, myself, and my partner to Europe (where I have friends and family and have worked before) where there are more labor protections, better work-life balance, and if I get sick or dare ride my horse and fall off an hurt myself, I will not go bankrupt with healthcare costs or lose my job and die in the street destitute. And watch from afar as either a civil war breaks out or the economy collapses while the rich somehow will be spared once again.

Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations

I renegotiated my start date and it’s different from the date I signed on the offer letter. Do I need to request a revised offer letter or is the email thread with the recruiter sufficient. By the way, my background check is already in progress.

Hey fishes, recently got an offer of 245k plus a bonus, but no specificity and at least 3% cost of living annual raise. My current job I make 150k plus a 20% bonus and an annual cost of living raise anywhere from 2-3.5%. Have been in my current position about a year. Things have been a bit bumpy (not a me issue) I have a new supervisor and was recently given 7 direct reports (I had zero before). The new position while comes with a significant raise is a move to California. Any thoughts?

My husband just received a job offer on an opportunity he is really excited about. It would be great for his career and they are giving the 15% jump in base he asked for, however they won’t share what the target bonus amount would be. It’s an executive director position, so I would assume it’s a decent target bonus, but without that in writing it could honestly be a gift basket at the end of the year. Is it a red flag for them to not share this? His total comp could be less at this new job…

I'm new to all this. Is it best to save 10% of my salary all in my company's 401k (with 20% match, increasing by 5% every year)... or saving 5% in 401k and 5% in a Roth IRA?

Does anyone have suggestions for what a salary should be for a Digital Marketing Analyst | Paid Social & Performance Media? I have 1 year of experience, the job asks for 0-1 year of experience. I feel I over meet the qualifications in some areas and just meet them in others. The recruiter said 50k is the salary the company is offer. I know I can negotiate. What are your thoughts on what the salary should be?

Started a new job a year ago, high performer. My manager suggested a promotion to Product Manager since that‘s the work I’m doing, but that would be a 50% raise. Higher ups decided instead to make a “new role” (not PM), that has no analog in the company and is hard to price via Glassdoor, etc. I feel like this is to limit my promotion salary to something like 10% from where it currently is. Is there anything I can do? FWIW: I have a PhD from top 5 program and am working in that field. Thanks!

I’m interviewing for a marketing manager role at a company based in SF. I’m genuinely excited about the role and the company but we’ve yet to discuss salary. I expect to be asked at some point, but my research has given me a VERY broad range. So I’m here to do a bit more research. I’ve got 5 very relevant years of experience and will have an associate manager directly reporting to me. Are there any marketers out there who can share their salaries in similar regions and experience levels?

Cash bonuses, raises, profit-sharing, company equity, 401k match, etc.
