I don’t know who needs to hear this, but “I’m thankful for my team” is not a substitute for fair pay. My agency sent out a warm-and-fuzzy Thanksgiving email full of gratitude, but we haven’t had raises in two years and they just cut our holiday bonuses. I get it, times are tough, but the performative appreciation hits different when morale is already low. I’m not asking for a turkey, I’m asking for transparency. How do you respond when leadership tries to serve thanks instead of compensation?

What books should I read on being a good manager? I’ve been promoted to manage a team of 6 and feel like I’m failing them. Any books on managing a remote team would help especially, but I’ll take ANY help I can get
