I’m starting to really get annoyed with Uber and Lyft and the extreme price gouging. Luckily Lyft rides get me 3x Hilton points and 10x Chase rewards so not quite as painful. Don’t really see the benefit of Uber over regular taxis anymore
K1: Uber rides is profitable for years now, maybe except from the deepest pandemic lockdowns. When I was at Kearney, we used to know how to read P&L statements of public companies 🤓

Why didn't they just go back to calling it Uber Pool?

I’m surprised they even brought it back after it was quietly removed during the pandemic. I’m trying to take yellow/green only these days
It’s dynamic. No more steep discount during times when they know you’re likely to just ride alone anyway.
It goes up to 20% off on top of that number if someone else ends up in that shared ride. If no one else ends up using the shared ride, you at least got the slight discount front a normal Uber. I wish it was a bigger discount to start out though
This is the minimum discount you get if you are not matched. In case you get matched, the discount is higher.

The app should say $X list price but $Y if you get a match not $X + *Save up to 20% if you get a match*. I want to see $Y explicitly written out.
