I find it odd how many companies possess the expectation of proficiency in Google Workspace, when many departments related to state, county, or municipality employment, use Microsoft Office (various versions) to complete day to day tasks.

Microsoft Office is safer as there is no internet connection required; keeping internal data and documentation from third-party eyes. It is a wiser choice. Equivalent to using Firefox, rather than Chrome, because Chrome deploys caches that retain information.

If you know one, you know the other.

I think it's because a lot of companies have just gotten used to Google's ecosystem so it has become something of a standard. And, of course, Microsoft has long been a standard. But they basically do the same things, so it's not like skills with one would leave someone utterly clueless in the other. And some versions of Office do essentially exist in the cloud, so they're not as different as it may seem in that sense.

Google workspace is awful. Many of my clients regret their decision to implement GSuite, and a handful are actively planning to migrate back to M365.

Google Meet is one of the primary factors. Content being presented never goes to full screen. There is always a gallery for participants taking up valuable real estate on the screen; even after "Don't watch" is clicked for every participant (especially true for laptop users).

I've also seen instances where a facilitator is presenting content, but no remote users see it (despite clicking both screen share and the confirmation pop-up).

These aren’t complicated tools to use.

Thank goodness MS Office doesn’t use the internet! 😅🤪🤣

My firm typically does insurance defense, but we take plaintiffs cases here and there. Is it typical that work done by associates on contingency cases isn’t counted toward their billable hour requirements unless and until we receive our fee on the case? This is my first experience with this, but it’s hard for me to reach my hours as is, without spending time on non billable cases like this with no assurance that I’ll see billable credit at the end.

Hi Fishes, I am new to this variable included pay structure. From my first company to current I am getting fixed pay only. So, I know how to calculate my in-hand salary with that. I can see here 10% is variable pay. I have some questions,
1. How much will be in-hand salary?
2. Is there any hidden component which may deduct from my salary?
3. How variable pay will be paid? monthly or quarterly or annually?
4. How much variable pay we will get by Average?

My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.
